PETALING JAYA: Graphic artist and activist Fahmi Reza has been called up by the police, the second time this month alone.
In a brief Twitter post, Fahmi said: “I’m back to Bukit Aman today for an appointment with the police.”
He did not elaborate as to why he was summoned by the cops.
Earlier this month, Fahmi had been called up over a satirical picture of an ape in headgear and yellow attire similar to that worn by royalty which he uploaded on social media.
He was arrested by Bukit Aman in a sedition probe over the graphic, before being released the next day.
Last month, he was charged in the sessions court with insulting PAS by posting a picture on Facebook linking the party with alcohol. He pleaded not guilty.
He was charged under the Communications and Multimedia Act, with the prosecution contending that he uploaded the post on June 1, 2021 with the intention to annoy others.
Human rights group Article 19 previously criticised the government for hauling Fahmi to court, labelling it as a “malicious witch hunt” against the graphic artist. - FMT
