The government has announced that civil servants will receive a special RM500 Aidilfitri aid next month.
All civil servants Grade 56 and below will be eligible for the aid. This includes those under a contract of service, contract for service, daily part-time officers as well as MyStep appointees.
Retired civil servants, on the other hand, will receive RM250.
In a media statement this afternoon, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the aid is in recognition of their service and sacrifice in executing their duties and responsibilities during such a challenging period.
The special aid, which will be disbursed together with their salaries on April 25, will benefit more than two million civil servants and retirees.
Ismail Sabri said the announcement was made earlier this year compared to previous years in order to help civil servants make preparations for Hari Raya.
“The government hopes the special aid will alleviate their financial burden as well as spur them to continue serving with dedication,” he added.
With the exception of the different date, Ismail Sabri's statement is exactly the same as the one issued by the Prime Minister's Office last year when his predecessor Muhyiddin Yassin was in office. - Mkini
