PETALING JAYA: The police are tracking down several witnesses who attended a religious event in Terengganu organised by a freelance preacher who allegedly molested a five-year-old girl there last month.
Police said the witnesses were from several states and had been at the event, organised by the 61-year-old preacher at a boathouse.
Terengganu head of criminal investigations, Suffian Sulaiman, said the witnesses were needed so the police could complete their investigation paper.
“Many who attended the programme were not from Terengganu but from other states such as Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor. We are in the midst of tracking them down to record their statement,” he told FMT.
The five-year-old girl was said to have been at the event with her father and grandmother.
After returning home, the girl told her mother about an encounter with the preacher at the boathouse. The mother lodged a report and police subsequently arrested the suspect. - FMT
