Covid-19 (April 25): 2,478 new cases, lowest in three months

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,478 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,433,551.

This is the lowest number of newly reported cases since Jan 17 (2,342).

Active cases stood at 68,008, down 46.2 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (1,127)
Kuala Lumpur (356)
Negeri Sembilan (195)
Penang (165)
Kedah (113)
Johor (112)
Perak (101)
Malacca (57)
Sarawak (57)
Sabah (48)
Terengganu (41)
Pahang (40)
Kelantan (27)
Putrajaya (22)
Perlis (11)
Labuan (6)

Another eight deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as 'brought in dead'.

Over the past week, an average of 10 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 25.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,507 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 524 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 2,235 last month and 770 in February.

Selangor reported five deaths, followed by Kedah (2), and Malacca (1).

There are 1,809 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 98 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (147) followed by Johor (117) and Sabah (59). - Mkini
