Former Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has claimed there are attempts to sack him from Umno, despite still being kept in the dark over the outcome of his appeal against a six-year suspension.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, Tun Faisal said he was informed by members present during a Putrajaya Umno division meeting yesterday that there was a purported decision made to overturn his suspension, which resulted in some unhappiness.
"This matter about my appeal being accepted, Tengku Adnan Mansor (allegedly) mentioned it during the division meeting," he said in reference to Putrajaya Umno division chief Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
"We don't know anything. I personally have yet to receive any letter," said Tun Faisal, who is the press secretary to Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa.
Tun Faisal said he had initially made inquiries about his rumoured sacking, first reported by online portal Suara Merdeka yesterday.
Tengku Adnan unhappy
Tun Faisal further claimed that Tengku Adnan was personally unhappy with the Umno appeals board decision and had ordered the Putrajaya division to move for his sacking.
"I am not surprised because I am really familiar with his ways.
"In this month of Ramadan, we should let go of all ill wills and find a way to make peace," he added.
The Umno supreme council had on March 27 last year suspended Tun Faisal over an alleged breach of party discipline.
Utusan Malaysia at the time alleged that Tengku Adnan had orchestrated the disciplinary report against Tun Faisal - who was his deputy - ostensibly for criticising party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Malaysiakini has contacted Tengku Adnan on the matter.
Wait for decision
In response to Tun Faisal, Putrajaya Umno information chief Mohd Hisamudin Yahaya said the meeting was not only focused on the issue of Tun Faisal's suspension.
"Yes, we had a meeting yesterday, we discussed various matters and we received reports from the bureaus in preparation for the 15th general election, the meeting went on as per usual," said Hisamudin in a statement.
"Where did Tun Faisal get his information from? If he feels that he is innocent then why should he be afraid?
"Didn't he always say he's on the side of the truth? So why the haste? Just wait for the decision of his appeal," said Hisamudin. - Mkini
