Guan Eng calls out MACC for speedy action against Nazlan, but not Azam

Lim Guan Eng said the MACC had failed to act similarly against Azam Baki for allegedly breaching the law in purchasing millions of shares worth millions of ringgit last year.

PETALING JAYA: DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has slammed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for not “jumping” to investigate its chief commissioner Azam Baki over alleged ownership of shares and warrants worth millions of ringgit, just like it did with a report involving Court of Appeal judge Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

“Following the confirmation yesterday that the MACC has opened an investigation paper into Nazlan following a report, we want to know why the MACC failed to act similarly against Azam for allegedly breaching the law in purchasing millions of shares worth millions of ringgit last year,” he said in a press statement today.

This comes in the wake of allegations that Nazlan was being investigated for an unexplained RM1 million in his bank account.

Nazlan has lodged a police report over the allegations, saying it was “false, baseless and malicious,” and aimed at undermining his credibility as a Court of Appeal judge.

Yesterday, Azam confirmed that the commission had opened an investigation paper on the matter upon receiving “some reports”, and not because of claims made on portals or social media. - FMT
