Kuala Nerus PAS division has sacked its information chief who is known to be aligned with former party leader Khairuddin Aman Razali, who quit the party last month.
It was understood that a letter was sent to Raja Arizal Raja Arif last week informing him of the division's decision to "drop" him from their leadership lineup.
Raja Arizal confirmed the matter to Malaysiakini when contacted earlier today.
"There was no reason whatsoever stated in the letter. I will issue a reply soon, Insha Allah," he said.
Kuala Nerus PAS division chief Shukrimun Shamsuddin also confirmed to Malaysiakini of their decision against Raja Arizal.
When contacted, Shukrimun cited Raja Arizal's close relationship with Khairuddin (above) as one of the reasons behind his removal.
"This matter is related to the Kuala Nerus MP who has quit the party, and he (Raja Arizal) is one of the officers serving the MP," he said, referring to Khairuddin.
"So we decided to drop him (Raja Arizal) from the position," Shukrimun told Malaysiakini.
He said the letter to Raja Arizal was issued last week and effective immediately.
Khairuddin, who is also widely known in the political circle as Takiri, announced his resignation from PAS on March 14 and became an independent MP. - Mkini
