The Perak government is not planning to enforce a ruling on bringing children to Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars in the state, said Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad.
However, he said parents and guardians were advised to continue adhering to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the Health Ministry and National Security Council.
He also reminded the public that the Omicron variant still poses a threat, in addition to a new sub-variant of Omicron dubbed XE that has emerged in foreign countries.
“We still have no such rulings (as enforced in Malacca)… but we are always reminding the people, especially parents to be vigilant as many may have forgotten because they are eager to celebrate Raya,” he said.
Saarani was speaking at a media conference held after the Perak state government’s Clients Day at Stadium Indera Mulia in Ipoh today.
The Malacca Housing, Local Government, and Environment Committee chairperson Zaidi Attan reportedly said the state would enforce a ruling on bringing children to Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars this week.
This is to ensure their safety and prevent them from Covid-19 infection.
