KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 120,615 officers and personnel in the armed forces as well as about 200,000 veterans will receive the special Aidilfitri financial assistance as announced by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday.
Defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein said the Cabinet meeting today confirmed the special financial aid covers officers and personnel as well as armed forces veterans registered with the Department of Veteran Affairs (JHEV).
“Armed forces veterans who have yet to register with JHEV should do so quickly to enjoy the special assistance.
“The defence ministry believes the special assistance can help all armed forces personnel and veterans in their preparation for the Hari Raya celebration,” he said in a statement today.
Hishammuddin also expressed his appreciation and thanks to the prime minister and finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz as well as the Cabinet for taking into consideration armed forces personnel and veterans in the granting of the special Aidilfitri financial aid as well as other forms of assistance earlier.
“This not only reflects the concern for their welfare but it is also a recognition of the services and sacrifices made by these armed forces personnel and veterans for the good of the country,” he said.
Yesterday, the government agreed to give the special Aidilfitri financial aid of RM500 to all civil servants Grade 56 and below, including employees under contract service, part-time officers as well as appointees under the short-term employment scheme, and also RM250 to all pensioners. - FMT
