Pakistan Supreme Court Rules Against Imran Khan. No Confidence Vote To Proceed Tomorrow Saturday 9th April, 2022

 Imran Khan taught that he had cleverly overcome that Motion of No Confidence against him in Parliament which was supposed to be tabled on April 3rd. 

1. Imran Khan got all his own party's MPs (over 145 of them) to resign. 

2. This forced  the Speaker of Parliament  (also his man) to declare that Parliament was dissolved. 

3. Then immediately after that the figurehead president of Pakistan (also an Imran nominee) declared that since the Parliament had been dissolved, a caretaker PM should be appointed and fresh elections must be held - as early as within 90 days. 

This meant that the Vote of No Confidence against him in Parliament became automatically cancelled. There was no need for a No Confidence Vote. Everyone just go to the polls again.

The Opposition took the matter to the Pakistani Supreme Court. Their contention was   that all three points above (1 to 3) were unconstitutional because it was merely a self-preserving tactic by a prime minister who had already lost majority support in Parliament.

Late last nite (Malaysian time) FIVE judges of the Pakistani Supreme Court made a unanimous decision that points 1 - 3 above were indeed unconstitutional and illegal. (I hope our local Parliamentarians will also take note.)

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the Speaker of their Parliament to conduct the Vote of No Confidence tomorrow Saturday 9th April, 2022.
