PETALING JAYA: A six-year-old boy was found driving a car which was involved in an accident along Jalan Bukit Tangga in Langkawi last night.
Langkawi police chief Shariman Ashari said the crash was believed to have occurred when the vehicle skidded and hit a lamp post enroute from Kampung Ulu Melaka towards Kampung Nyior Chabang, Harian Metro reported.
Shariman said the car was believed to have been driven by the boy for about 2.5km from his home in Kampung Padang Mengkuang without his parents’ knowledge.
The boy was accompanied by his three-year-old sibling. They had reportedly been heading to a nearby store to buy toys at about 11.15pm.
The boy suffered a forehead injury while his sibling was unharmed, Shariman was quoted as saying.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for negligent or dangerous driving, and Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect. - FMT
