'Engage sixth gear' - Anwar's aide tells pro-govt cybertroopers

 

An aide to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged pro-government cybertroopers to relay and explain the coalition government's policies to the rakyat on social media.

In addition, Anwar's press secretary Tunku Nashrul Tunku Abaidah, also wants press secretaries in every ministry to work with cybertroopers led by Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam ahead of the upcoming state elections.

"My advice to them (press secretaries) is to do large-scale engagement sessions with these cybertroopers because we will face the state polls soon.

"Moving on 'low gear' won't do. We have to engage the fifth or sixth gear to ensure the unity government can do the best in the elections," Nashrul said in his speech at an engagement session with pro-government cybertroopers at the Umno headquarters, in Kuala Lumpur last night.

"I urge my brothers and sisters (cybertroopers) to help us; help me by providing feedback - your inputs are very meaningful."

Also present at the session was Anwar's political secretary Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.

This is the first such engagement session after Pakatan Harapan and BN formed the coalition government following the 15th general election.

It is believed that this shift of focus on social media is to counter the Perikatan Nasional's prominent presence and support base on social media. The opposition coalition reportedly spent substantial money to attract younger voters on social media, especially on TikTok.

During his speech, Shamsul said forming the coalition government was not easy, given that Harapan and BN were long-standing political foes.

However, he said the political players decided to compromise and put aside their differences to work together for the country's sake.

According to him, Anwar created the Malaysia Madani concept to unite all and bring stability to the country.
