Green Party secretary-general Abdul Razak Ismail has been served a letter of demand over some posts he made over the redevelopment of the sports complex in Shah Alam.
In a statement today, Razak (above) said he had been served a statement of claim for defamation and given 72 hours to apologise and withdraw his posts.
This was after he claimed that the redevelopment project was not awarded through a transparent open tender procedure.
“I was handed the lawyer’s letter at 3.10pm this afternoon.
“It concerned my posts on my Facebook page and several reports published in social media portals and local newspapers recently regarding the project to demolish and rebuild the 'iconic' Shah Alam football stadium which is part of a project known as the Shah Sports Complex Project Alam, estimated to be worth RM1.5 billion.
“I was given 72 hours to respond to the allegations and legal action is expected if I do not apologise and withdraw the posts,” he said.
Razak claimed that all his posts talked about the Selangor state government and not the company that sent him the letter.
He added that he would respond to the letter from the lawyer within 72 hours as demanded. - Mkini
