KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is back at work after recovering from gallstone surgery, starting with a courtesy call from the new Sabah police commissioner.

Datuk Jauteh Dikun, 57, who was promoted to the post last week, led a delegation from the state police at the Chief Minister's official residence in Sri Gaya here on Tuesday (May 9).

The Ranau-born Sabahan replaced Datuk Idris Abdullah, who retired on March 31.

During the meeting, Jauteh informed Hajiji of the programmes, plans, operations and issues faced by the police in Sabah.

He also thanked Hajiji and the state government for the strong support given to the police.

Meanwhile, Hajiji welcomed Jauteh's appointment as well as his new Deputy Police Commissioner Shahurinain Jais, while expressing confidence that the duo and the state police team could ensure the security level in Sabah is maintained and improved.

The Sabah government will also assist in smoothing the setting up of more police posts (pondok polis) and security operations across the state, he assured Jauteh.

Besides Shahurinain, also joining the courtesy call were special branch chief SAC Datuk Mohd Salleh Yahya, management department chief SAC Nik Md Zain Nik Omar, criminal investigation department chief SAC Azmi Abdul Rahim and logistics department chief ACP Datin Laila Sagir. - Star
