The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has ceased Wan Nurzila Wan Abd Rahman's services as chief media and strategic communications head.
The PMO communicated this in a curt statement which also thanked Wan Nurzila after nearly six months in the position.
"We wish to state our highest appreciation and gratitude to Wan Nurzila for her services," it said.
The PMO will continue to ensure that the propagation of the Malaysia Madani agenda and government initiatives are improved, it added.
Wan Nurzila was formerly a journalist with national news agency Bernama before serving as press secretary to several cabinet ministers.
The PMO did not make it clear if Wan Nurzila had been transferred to another government department.
