PKR will contest seven seats in the state elections in Kelantan next month.
The party’s state leadership council (MPN) deputy chairperson Syed Mohd Alidustur Syed Mohd Zain said the seven seats are Panchor, Chetok, Mengkebang, Pasir Pekan, Kota Lama, Pasir Tumboh, and Limbongan.
“Following that, Kelantan PKR has been instructed to open the Main Operations Room (BGU) in the seven DUNs that we will contest,” he told reporters after the launch of the party’s election machinery and BGU for Panchor in Kota Bharu, Kelantan last night.
Alidustur, who is also the head of PKR’s Pengkalan Chepa division, further said that as part of the federal government, Kelantan PKR will support Amanah and BN candidates in the election.
“The Kelantan PKR BGU is only open in the constituencies we are contesting. In the areas where there is no PKR candidate, we will fully support the parties in the unity government which will be contesting them,” he said.
Kelantan Umno information chief Zawawi Othman previously reported that BN would contest 31 seats while Pakatan Harapan, which includes PKR and Amanah, will contest 14 other seats. The Kelantan state assembly has 45 seats.
Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan will go to the polls on Aug 12, with nomination day set on July 29 and early voting on Aug 8.
