Umno veteran Tajuddin Abdul Rahman will not join the party’s campaign for the upcoming state elections because his appeals against his suspension from the party had been ignored.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Tajuddin (above) said his four appeals against his suspension were ignored and he does not intend to appeal again.
“I want my ‘keris’ back... Why aren’t they responding to my appeals? If they want me to campaign, they need to lift my suspension.
“I can’t campaign (if I am not a member). My hands and feet will be tied,” he said.
Tajuddin was suspended from the party last October. Last month, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed that the leadership was open to studying appeals.
Tajuddin said his appeals should be allowed because he is an Umno veteran and the decision to suspend him for criticising the party leadership was unjust.
“How can the party not be open to advice or criticisms?” asked Tajuddin.
He said he bore no grudges against Umno but against certain members of the leadership.
However, the former Pasir Salak MP ruled out joining any other party for now. - Mkini
