SHAH ALAM: Annuar Musa’s first-hand knowledge about Umno’s mistakes means Kelantan voters should heed his call to refrain from voting for Barisan Nasional in the coming state election, says PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Annuar, who was the former BN secretary-general, was among the key Umno leaders who were expelled or suspended for breaching party rules after last year’s general election.
“There are many things (about Umno) that he knows more than us,” Hadi told FMT after attending an event at the Ideal Convention Centre here today.
“He has seen Umno’s mistakes firsthand.”
He said that, among others, Umno had strayed from its principle of “defending the religion, race and country” and its promise not to work with Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim and DAP.
In a fiery speech in Kota Bharu on Friday night, Annuar, who is now with PAS. had warned voters against supporting BN in Kelantan.
The former Ketereh MP also claimed that the collapse of the two previous governments led to several PAS leaders from Kelantan no longer being ministers and deputy ministers.
Annuar further claimed that this had led to the people of Kelantan “suffering and being left behind” in progress.
Separately, Hadi said he was aware of caretaker Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor’s claim last night that a plot was devised six months ago to arrest him.
Sanusi, who is the Perikatan Nasional election director, was arrested by police at 3am on Tuesday before being charged at the Selayang sessions court on two counts of sedition against royalty.
“I heard about it … (but the mastermind) has no right to touch him. The party appointed him,” said Hadi, without elaborating further. - FMT
