- Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages
- Untermensch, German, noun
- plural: Untermenschen
- a person considered racially or socially inferior
Indians listen carefully. I hear that fellow repeating many times 'segelintir India menjadi golongan terrrrrrrrr-miskin dalam negara kita'.
I actually detect an insulting tone of voice when he says terrrrrrrrrr-miskin.
As though he is rubbing it in. I suspect it has something to do with how the fellow was brought up.
It is also not true. There are other groups of people who are poorer than even the terrrrrr-miskin India. These are racial groups and others who are geographically distributed.
Leaving that aside for a minute, back to the Indian VOTE.
To discuss the Indian vote, first we must discuss the Malay vote.
There are NOT ENOUGH Malay votes in the country. Thanks to UMNO's ketuanan policies, all the Malay votes are concentrated. Now with the Malay vote being so divided there are not enough Malay votes to swing things decisively for any one Malay party.
Somehow the Malay parties seem to be unaware of this reality. And forget about Sabah and Sarawak. Sabah and Sarawak are now back to being proudly Dayak, Iban, Melanau, Kadazan, Dusun etc.
Hence although small the Indian vote can be the deciding factor in many State seats (and Parliamentary seats as well) on the Peninsula.
The Hindraf folks understood this well and their Malaysian Advancement Party knows the exact numbers of Indian voters. But they blew their chances when they decided to join the PH instead of the PN. Its not too late.
Bersatu-PN's Hamzah Zainuddin is perhaps the only Malay politician who seems to grasp this arithmetic. Hence Hamzah Zainuddin is quietly building strong links into the Indian community.
The Perikatan Nasional's special committee on Indians is one such effort to reach into the Indian community.
Adolph Hitler and the Nazis played up the phrase untermenschen referring to non-Germans as socially and racially inferior.
People may not blatantly use such phrases anymore but unfortunately they still do have the same mindset as the Nazis. That they are somehow superior to other people. That other people are inferior or untermenschen on account of really stupid things like race, language and stupidest of all 'religion'.
Democracy is the best substitute for enlightenment. Or the lack of enlightenment and the lack of justice. The one man one vote system does provide the best crack at counting everyone. Especially when people are deluded that they own the majority.
Every vote counts. Every Indian vote will count. So Indians go out and vote.
