'Don't be rude' - Selangor caretaker MB warns Kedah counterpart

Selangor caretaker Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has slammed his Kedah counterpart Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over the latter's alleged insult of the Selangor ruler.

"It's alright if he (Sanusi) insults me, but he insulted the Selangor sultan as well, by comparing him with the Kedah ruler.

"Here (Bukit Melawati) is the state's place of origin. Sanusi, don't be rude! Selangorians will teach you a lesson in the state election on Aug 12," Amirudin (above) said in his speech at the Jelajah Madani programme in Bukit Melawati, Selangor, last night.

Amirudin was responding to the remark by Sanusi during a recent Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Selangor, where he allegedly insulted Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in choosing the state's menteri besar.

During the video of the speech, which has gone viral on social media, Sanusi can be seen comparing the Kedah sultan and his Selangor counterpart, whom he alleged had chosen "lousy" Amirudin as the menteri besar.

Meanwhile, Amirudin, who is also the incumbent Sungai Tua assemblyperson, said Sanusi's statement showed that the opposition had run out of political ammo that is based on facts and figures, and had to drag the royalty in their political campaigning.

"They (PN) can only dream. They are playing with emotions and their false hopes of capturing Selangor," he said.

‘This is their DNA’

In a tweet later, Amirudin said the "insult" against the Selangor ruler is not the first time PAS has been rude against the Malay rulers.

"This is their (PAS') DNA. When they cannot argue based on facts and figures, they will insult their opponent's physical appearance. And then they will spout rude remarks against the Malay rulers."

Amirudin further expressed disappointment that none of the other PN leaders who shared the stage with Sanusi during the event reprimanded the PAS leader over the remark. Sanusi is also the PAS election director.

"In fact, the event was led by Uncle Min (Selangor PN chairperson Azmin Ali). They just clapped in support of Sanusi's rudeness.

"Selangorians will remember this and punish the traitors (in the election)," he said.

Earlier today, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil told Sanusi that he has to bear the consequences of his action on the matter.

In addition, Shah Alam PKR information chief Suryamuizzudin Kamarudin also lodged a report against Sanusi at a police station in the district, this morning.

'Morally bankrupt politician'

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim dubbed Sanusi a politician who's bankrupt of ideas and morals.

"It's evident that Sanusi does not deserve to be a leader, who's supposed to display high morality.

"His denial and distortion of facts regarding the formation of the unity government, as well as the insults uttered on the appointment of the Selangor menteri besar shows his 'treason' against the royalty, and the Malay rulers," he said in a statement today.

Besides commenting on the role of Selangor ruler on Amirudin's appointment and poking fun at the latter's physical appearance, Sanusi also reportedly claimed that there was no decree from the Istana Negara for the formation of the coalition government after the 15th general election.

Muhammad Kamil urged the voters to reject politics of hate in the upcoming state elections and vote in a government that observes decent political culture and morals. - Mkini
