A former national football team captain was charged in the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court today for trespassing into a woman's hotel room.
Ahmad Shahrul Azhar Sofian, 49, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out before Magistrate Zhafran Rahim Hamzah.
The former Perak FA player was charged with trespassing into the 36-year-old woman's room at a Kelana Jaya hotel at 6pm on June 21.
Under Section 448 of the Penal Code, the charge carries a maximum prison sentence of three years or a fine of up to RM5,000 or both.
He was allowed bail of RM2,000 with one surety and ordered not to intimidate witnesses in the case.
The court set Sept 18 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Maryam Jamilah Md Kamal prosecuted, while lawyer Suraj Singh represented the accused, who has a wife and seven children.
