PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang warned that any members found contesting as an Independent in the upcoming state polls will be sacked from the party.
Malaysia Gazette quoted Hadi as saying that the Perikatan Nasional's (PN) candidates list has been finalised, and members are expected to abide by the parties' decisions.
"If (anyone contests as an) independent, (they will be) sacked. All names have been submitted and listed," Hadi reportedly said.
"The decision must be followed, or else we will immediately sack," he said after attending a town hall session in Shah Alam alongside former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Hadi reportedly said this when asked for comments over Tasek Gelugor PAS Youth's statement, urging PN partner and Gerakan president Dominic Lau to withdraw and forget about plans to contest a state seat in the Malay-majority parliamentary constituency.
Tasek Gelugor PAS Youth vice-chief Mohamad Ikhwan Afiq Mohamad Anwar yesterday warned that if Lau remained stubborn, they would launch an independent movement to torpedo him and that Bersatu would also end up being collateral damage.
PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin previously announced that Gerakan, with zero incumbents, will contest 36 out of 245 seats in six states.
PN is set to unveil its candidates for Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, and Penang tonight, followed by Kelantan and Terengganu tomorrow. - Mkini
