Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi has thrown his hat into the ring to contest in the upcoming state elections.
Speaking at a press conference today, he volunteered to contest but will leave it to the party’s candidate selection committee and state committee to decide.
“Initially, I wasn’t interested in politics because I felt that politicians would only speak about issues that would benefit them.
“Those who spoke about corruption, and took to the streets to protest, now have stopped talking about it.
“Me, along with my friends, established Muda because we are sick and tired of deceitful politics and. This is where Muda comes in as an alternative to the people,” Amir (above) said during the press conference with Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman at the party's headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
Right track
He stressed that it is time for Malaysia to move forward and away from “old politics” in a bid to solve issues that were unresolved before this.
“Some may say that I will lose (in the state polls) but we know that the people have seen the country governed by all coalitions from decades under BN and then to Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional-BN, BN-PN, and now Harapan-BN. Even DAP had cooperated with PAS before this.
“I believe that Muda’s initiative is to bring the country back on the right track and to build the country to be one that is progressive and has a better economy,” he added.
Amir will be making his electoral debut if he were to be fielded as a candidate.
He was a familiar face in the youth activists’ circle, including through the Liga Rakyat Demokratik movement founded in 2015, prior to his move into active politics. - Mkini
