Muda unveils more candidates, including 59-year-old lawyer

Muda has announced its final batch of candidates today and it includes a 59-year-old lawyer, Lee Kim Noor, who is set to contest in the Batu Uban seat in Penang.

Lee was one of 10 candidates unveiled by the youth-centric party today.

She is a strata management consultant and was a member of the Penang Island City Council.

Pointing out that Penang has an ageing society, she aims to establish a team to visit the elderly who are alone or old in the state.

The incumbent for Batu Uban is PKR’s Kumaresan Aramugam.

Aside from Lee, one other candidate, Vikneswary Harikrishnan (Perai) will also be contesting in Penang, while two will be fielded in Negeri Sembilan and the remaining six candidates will contest in Selangor.

The candidates for Negeri Sembilan are Ahmad Qusyairi Abdull Rahim (Temiang) and Muhammad Noriswan Ishak (Repah).

Meanwhile, the candidates in Selangor are Kalyana Rajasekaran Teagarajan (Bukit Gasing), Azad Akbar Khan (Kota Anggerik), Zayd Shaukat (Subang Jaya), Aida Nazeera Abd Rahman (Taman Templer), Abe Lim Hooi Sean (Bandar Utama) and Noor Faralisa Redzuan (Pandan Indah).

All the seats Muda has announced candidates for today are currently held by Pakatan Harapan.

Vikneswary, 36, contesting in Perai, is a Penang Muda executive committee member.

The state seat incumbent is DAP’s two-term state assemblyperson Ramasamy Palanisamy.

Temiang candidate Qusyairi, 34, a Seremban native, is the party’s mobilisation leader in Negeri Sembilan.

He aims to focus on infrastructure, social welfare and youth empowerment in Temiang and Seremban.

The incumbent for Temiang is DAP’s three-term state representative Ng Chin Tsai.

In Repah, Iswan, 32, vows to be the voice of the people.

His campaign will focus on improving healthcare facilities, addressing and solving local issues and supporting local business to stimulate growth in the district.

The incumbent in the seat he is contesting is three-term state assemblyperson Veerapan Superamaniam from DAP.

Meanwhile, Muda’s Bandar Utama candidate Abe Lim is a climate change advocate and the chief executive officer of recycling firm Purpose Plastics.

Hailing from Ipoh, Perak, the 27-year-old’s campaign will be mainly focused on climate change, smart city planning and a green Bandar Utama for the next generation.

The incumbent for the seat is Jamaliah Jamaluddin from DAP. In the 14th general election (GE14), Jamaliah won the seat with a whopping 34,769 vote majority.

Over in Bukit Gasing, Kalyana, 44, is the deputy president of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

He not only desires to bring positive change to the country’s business industry but also seeks to bring a greater impact to society which has encouraged him to venture into the world of politics.

Two-term state assemblyperson Rajiv Rishyakaran from DAP is the incumbent for the Bukit Gasing state seat.

Azad, the party’s candidate in Kota Anggerik, is a Selangor-born.

The 35-year-old lawyer believes that the political space needs to be expanded to avoid the polarisation of Malaysians into two opposing forces.

The state seat incumbent is PKR’s Mohd Najwan Halimi.

Muda’s Subang Jaya candidate Zayd is the secretary for the party’s Selangor chapter.

The 27-year-old aims to offer solutions and plans to focus on issues such as institutional reforms, local elections, water supply disruption and more systematic waste management, among others.

The incumbent for the seat is DAP’s Michelle Ng Mei Sze. Ng defeated her opponents with a thumping 48,272 vote majority in GE14.

Meanwhile, Aida, 30, is Muda’s candidate in Taman Templer.

The 30-year-old Kuala Terengganu-born is currently the party’s Selangor student bureau deputy chief.

She aims to focus on issues such as infrastructure, environmental cleanliness and youth empowerment.

The incumbent for the seat is Amanah’s Mohd Sany Hamzan.

Muda’s Pandan Indah candidate Noor Faralisa is a 41-year-old vice-president in an international bank.

The mother of five decided to enter the political arena in 2021 as she wants a better future for her children.

Amanah’s Izham Hashim is the incumbent for the state seat.

As of today, Muda has announced 20 candidates to be fielded in four different states – Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu. - Mkini
