KOTA BARU: News that veteran Umno leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah will lead Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming state election, is only rumours.
Kelantan Umno information chief Datuk Zawawi Othman said this when commenting on Amanah leadership council committee member Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah recently saying that Tengku Razaleigh or Ku Li as he is more fondly known, was the best person to lead Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN in Kelantan in the upcoming state election.
"If we (state Umno/BN) want to change those who lead the party in the coming state election, such a statement will be issued by us.
"If it comes from the leader of another party, it can be considered as rumours and not valid," said Zawawi when contacted.
Earlier, Wan Rahim said he believed Ku Li would be the best person to hold the election director's post as there was no such leader or public figure of such stature in the state.
He also said Ku Li would help bring victory to PH and BN in the election.
On another note, Zawawi said Kelantan BN had been holding a series of small-scale ceramah throughout the state.
"If you asked about our ceramah, I can say that it has been on-going almost on a daily basis but the ceramah series is not as grand as that of Pas'.
"Our focus is on social media since our target is the young voters," he added. - NST
