Former home minister Hamzah Zainudin claimed PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail asked him to invalidate the PKR party elections last year.
Hamzah said this occurred within a week after Saifuddin lost to Rafizi Ramli in the contest for the PKR deputy presidency.
“Back then, when I was the home minister, PKR fought among themselves. It was Rafizi versus Saifuddin and Rafizi came out the winner as the deputy president.
“Not even one week later, Saifuddin, don’t forget, after you lost, you came to meet (me), you brought a letter saying ‘please cancel the PKR election (results).
“The letter is with me. Don’t play with me,” Hamzah said.
The Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general said this at a solidarity event in Sik, Kedah last night for caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who was recently slapped with two sedition charges.
PKR’s party polls took place in June last year while Hamzah was still the home minister in the Ismail Sabri Yaakob administration.
That year, PKR postponed its annual national congress, where winners from the party polls would be officially announced to enable the PKR central election committee to resolve several matters raised concerning the election. - Mkini
