RM7.45m financial aid approved for non-Islamic houses of worship

SUNGAI BULOH: The local government development ministry has approved a total of RM7.45 million in financial assistance for non-Islamic houses of worship.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said 56 out of 700 applications had been approved, adding that the funding was part of the RM50 million aid for maintenance and repair of buildings.

“The ministry task force is conducting a screening process on the remaining applications to assist those who are eligible.

“I hope the funding will go towards repairing their respective buildings in a more orderly manner,” he said at the Sri Maha Vana Dhurgai Amman Temple here today.

He added that the assistance would improve the comfort level of worshippers.

To date, the recipients include the Sri Maha Vana Dhurgai Amman Temple (RM109,200); Sri Ramar Alayam Temple, Selayang Bharu (RM102,200); Sri Muneeswarar Alayam Temple, Batu Caves (RM187,300); Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple, Kuala Selangor (RM51,700); Thirumurugan Temple, Sabak Bernam (RM79,000); Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh (RM57,700); Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Taman Ladang Jaya, Glenmarie (RM142,300) and Geeta Ashram Malaysia, Petaling Jaya (RM110,000). - FMT
