Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching has rubbished Bersatu MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan's call for her boss Fahmi Fadzil to resign over The 1975 band kissing fiasco.
Teo said such thinking was illogical.
"Will Wan Saiful ask the transport minister to resign if someone breaks the speed limit, or traffic rules?
"Should the home minister resign if a member of the public steals or is suspected of corruption and then charged in court such as what happened to Wan Saiful?" Teo (above) asked in a statement today.
She was referring to Wan Saiful's two corruption charges in relation to the Jana Wibawa scandal.
On Friday, two male members of the British band kissed while on stage at the Good Vibes Festival - in an apparent protest to Malaysian laws against homosexuality.
This triggered a public backlash, with Wan Saiful saying that Fahmi - the communication and digital minister - should be held responsible for the stunt and should resign.
Fahmi's response to the incident was to shut down the festival entirely, while the band has been banned from performing in Malaysia. - Mkini
