KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) has admitted to a player wages shortfall for Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City), but denies that it is as extensive as previously claimed.

“In total we receive RM8 million and therefore there is a shortage of RM2 million to pay the salary of the players for the previous year.

“We will also consider some payment for the month of December though it is not in the contract and we will discuss the matter with the players,” KLFA president Khalid Samad said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium here today, Bernama reported.

Khalid added that KLFA was also considering selling Kuala Lumpur Rovers FC to resolve the issue because based on the Malaysian Football League (MFL) directive, two teams cannot represent Kuala Lumpur in the M-League.

He denied that the club had not paid its players or coaches in four months and was optimistic that the issue could be resolved with main sponsor DBKL before the MFL deadline. -FMT
