An early incentive payment of RM2,000, as announced in Budget 2024, will be paid out to select civil servants and pensioners in one lump sum on Feb 23, according to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
This will involve, Anwar said, civil servants in Grade 56 and below - including those under contract.
Those in the Public Service Premiere Post (Jusa) category will receive RM1,000.
Meanwhile, an incentive payment of RM1,000 will also be extended to all pensioners including veterans - be it those with or without pensions, he added.
“This is while we wait for the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) study to be finalised,” he said at an assembly with the Finance Ministry staff today.
“We are taking the fast track. The meeting (SSPA) will be chaired by me and we will finalise it within two months.
“It will then be presented to the cabinet for a final decision,” Anwar added.
Also present at the assembly were Deputy Finance Ministers Lim Hui Ying and Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Meanwhile, Anwar, who is also finance minister, reminded his ministry’s staffers of the importance of domestic policies in nation-building.
“Domestic policies are critical in building a country, not external matters,” he said.
While the country is facing other problems, Anwar said the Finance Ministry must be focused on ensuring good economic management.
This, he added, was to prevent leakages and expedite approval processes.
“The Finance Ministry family cannot run away from such focus,” Anwar stressed. - Mkini
