Ramadan preachers must be accredited, says Na’im

PUTRAJAYA: Mosques and government agencies planning to hold religious programmes during Ramadan must ensure preachers are accredited, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said.

“I invite the community to choose speakers with credentials so that we can ensure the content of the talks in mosques, suraus or on social media platforms delivered during Ramadan contains the basics of true Islamic teachings,” he said in a press conference after launching the Ihya Ramadan programme here today.

Previously, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that he wanted all ministries and government departments to organise religious knowledge programmes in their respective workplaces to enliven the spirit of Ramadan.

Na’im asked the Islamic development department to coordinate spiritual and community programmes with its cadre officers in other ministries and departments.

“We must enliven Ramadan programmes with this strategic collaboration, so that we can all appreciate the noble values contained in the Madrasah Ramadan,” he said. - FMT
