KOTA KINABALU: A "twister" ripped off the roofing of two shoplots in Sabah's east coast Lahad Datu town.
Social media videos showed the zinc roofs floating mid-air as strong wind hit two shoplots at Mile 2 of Lahad Datu's Jalan Segama area at about 2pm Friday (March 15).
Lahad Datu district police chief Asst Comm Dr Rohan Shah Ahmad said the strong wind damaged roofs of a vehicle service centre and the office of the Lahad Datu Farmers Association office.
However, no one was hurt in the incident.
He said police had also not received any official reports from the public following the incident.
It was understood that electricity to some of the lots in the shop lots were also affected by the gust.
Several video clips shared by netizens showed roofing material flying off the buildings, with some of it landing along the road, though missing passing vehicles.
People were also shouting out to others to be cautious about zinc roofing sheets falling down. - Star
