3 nabbed for allegedly threatening Kuantan McD customers

Three local men were arrested on Saturday for allegedly provoking and threatening to hit customers at a McDonald’s in Sungai Isap, Kuantan, Pahang.

A report by China Press quoted police sources saying the arrest at about 3.30pm involved a 33-year-old car salesperson with a criminal record of drugs, a 33-year-old bank clerk, and a 27-year-old army member who is serving in Kelantan.

The police also seized a Honda sedan, a truck, and a remote control.

Yesterday, Kuantan district police chief Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu was quoted by Kosmo! saying the police were tracking the suspects after a report was filed by a complainant on Saturday.

He said the suspects, who were campaigning to boycott McDonald’s, had hurled insults and slurs when the 40-year-old complainant and his family wanted to dine there.

“The group of men once again provoked the complainant when he was leaving the restaurant.

“When the complainant approached the group of men, one of them reached for a helmet and passed it to his friend, who subsequently threatened to hit the complainant,” said Wan Mohd Zahari.

China Press reported that the complainant’s wife intervened and persuaded him to report the incident to the police.

Wan Mohd Zahari said statements from the complainant and witnesses have been recorded and the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

Under Section 506, death threats can be punished with up to seven years’ jail, a fine, or both. - Mkini
