PETALING JAYA: The education ministry has announced the placement of 6,034 new contract teachers nationwide as of April 15.
In a statement, the ministry said that 1,858 teachers were posted to secondary schools while the remaining 4,176 were posted to primary schools.
“The placement of new contract teachers was made based on service needs, vacancies, and subject requirements,” it said.
In February, deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh said that 6,394 or 1.49% of teachers were approved for early retirement throughout last year.
He said the number marked an increase from the previous year’s 5,306, or 1.23% of the total number of teachers. - FMT
