DAP will be lodging a police report tomorrow over a fake screen capture implying that Pakatan Harapan and Umno are “dogs” under its control.
Calling it a malicious accusation, party national publicity secretary Teo Nie Ching said the statement was fake and the quote is not directly mentioned on any of the party’s official platforms.
“It’s actually a graphic created to slander and stir up controversy,” she said in a statement today.
According to Teo (above), the screenshot alleged that it was based on a translated excerpt using Google Translate from DAP’s official website written in Mandarin, saying:
“We don’t need dogs to attack Malays. We just need to create dogs from the Malays (Harapan+Umno) to destroy the Malays and Islam!
“Our Malay dogs (Harapan+Umno), they think we (DAP) are their God... Their old god is dead!”
Fake graphic to discredit DAP
Teo said the party views the matter seriously, insisting the fake graphic was created to discredit DAP.
However, the deputy minister said the slander did not discourage Malays from joining her party in droves.
“In fact, such slanders only encourage more people to join the party because they could no longer stomach the lies.
“DAP has been countering such slanders from the public for many years. This kind of superficial attack is made by those who are desperate and bankrupt of ideas,” said Teo.
She urged the authorities to take appropriate action against those who spread the graphic, adding the party would also hold a press conference on the matter soon.
“Details of the press conference, which will be held after lodging the police report, will be made available to the media as soon as possible
“The public can also check the official website of DAP Malaysia for more details,” she added. - Mkini
