PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has ordered Lazada to remove its listing for “Kingu Ginseng Candy”, which is said to have been found to contain tadalafil, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction.

The ministry said there are serious risks of unsupervised and unprescribed tadalafil dosage, including vision and hearing loss, sudden blood pressure drops, and cardiovascular issues like strokes and heart attacks.

In a statement, it also said it found the product to have violated laws for not showing manufacturer and distributor details.

“We have ordered Lazada to delete the listing of the product and any advertisements for it immediately,” it said.

The ministry said that since 2018, 2% of 1,575 suspected samples were found to contain prohibited substances, and enforcement action had been taken against the companies involved.

It advised the public to seek professional health advice if they had used the product.

Recently, Singapore’s food authorities also issued an advisory against purchasing the candy containing tadalafil. - FMT
