PETALING JAYA: Phase one of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) will be fully opened in the second quarter of this year, says works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Phase one of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway involves a total distance of 706km from Telok Melano to Miri.
In a Bernama report, Nanta said the project is 99% complete.
“Phase one of the Sarawak LPB is expected to be fully opened in the second quarter of this year, except for the Lambir section in Miri, which needs to be redesigned,” he said in a statement.
“It is expected to be ready in 2026.”
Meanwhile, Nanta said his ministry held a meeting with the Sarawak public works department yesterday to discuss issues related to the maintenance of state and federal roads in Sarawak.
He said there were 136.7km of roads that were in poor condition.
“Several solution models were proposed at the meeting, and these proposals will be studied in detail,” he said. - FMT
