PJD link project discontinued - Fahmi

The cabinet will not continue with the construction of the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link Expressway) highway project in Petaling Jaya area as the developer, PJD Link (M) Sdn Bhd (PJD Link) failed to meet several conditions precedent.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is the government spokesperson, said the decision also saw no extension of time after the project concessionaire failed to meet the conditions set.

“The cabinet today decided not to continue discussions with PJD Link (developer). The concessionaire applied for an extension to meet a number of conditions precedent but the government has rejected it, and the decision is not to continue (with the construction),” he said at a press conference at the Communications Ministry in Putrajaya today.

PJD Link is the concessionaire for the proposed PJD Link Expressway, a 25.4km two-lane dual carriageway, which starts after the NKVE toll plaza on Sprint Expressway, Damansara. It ends at the intersection of the Bukit Jalil highway.

The expressway was to ease traffic congestion and accommodate future vehicle growth in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. PJD Link signed a concession agreement with the Malaysian government on April 5, 2022.

Fahmi said the Works Ministry will issue a statement on the matter in the near future.

In other developments, he said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his appreciation to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry for its successful enforcement activities to ensure adequate supply of basic items and price control during the Hari Raya season.

“The ministry has ensured that the prices of goods are under control and there were no problems related to supplies of chicken, eggs and so on.

“The response from the people has been positive,” he said.
