PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today chaired the unity government secretariat leadership meeting at the Seri Perdana complex here to discuss allocations for opposition representatives.
The 5.30pm meeting was also attended by deputy prime ministers Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fadillah Yusof, agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu, and other leaders of parties in the unity government.
However, no one spoke to the press after the meeting concluded.
Earlier at a press conference today, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that a meeting to discuss allocations would take place this evening, Bernama reported.
On April 13, Fadillah said the decision to meet today followed his meeting with opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin in Parliament on March 19.
“In that meeting, the opposition expressed its desire for allocations, and that any conditions (for granting allocations) would be left to the government to determine.
“I informed them that this matter would be brought to the unity government secretariat meeting,” he told reporters at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house event in Kuching on Saturday.
He said that the meeting was also attended by opposition chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan and Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee. - FMT
