YOURSAY | The great royal addendum mystery in Najib's house arrest

YOURSAY | ‘There are a lot of questions that remain unanswered.‘

Zahid backs Najib's contention of royal addendum over house arrest

YellowFalcon7173: Did Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi see the addendum order himself or did he merely hear about it from International Trade and Investment Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz?

If Zahid saw it, then how did it get into the hands of Zafrul who is not the home minister?

If what Zahid says is true that all government members have seen the addendum order, then was Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail lying when he said he did not know such an order?

Is it proper for a serving deputy prime minister to affirm an affidavit of this nature to disclose something highly confidential?

Will Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim come out to clarify this once and for all? What is the government’s stand since your deputy has contradicted your home minister?

Will the rakyat be screwed over again?

GanMu: This is ridiculous. There is something fishy going on.

There are a lot of questions that remain unanswered.

How did this so-called addendum surface? Why wasn’t the house arrest issue included in the original pardon? Was it an afterthought?

When former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said he was very disappointed, it was about the pardon per se. Had he sighted the addendum, he could have easily taken a photo with his camera.

Now they will be telling many lies just to cover the first one. The prime minister will prevail if he is truthful on the matter.

DonGetMeWrong: Umno is subverting the unity government. With just 30 MPs, they want to call the shots. They will never change or learn their lesson.

Voters flatly rejected Najib in the 14th general election because of his involvement in the 1MDB scandal.

Why must Najib be given so much leeway to get out of jail when he has stolen money from the government, thus making history as the world’s worst kleptocrat?

Must a population of over 30 million people be held at ransom by a few Umno politicians?

This is getting more and more absurd each day.

If this circus carries on and the prime minister remains silent on so many issues, we might as well dissolve Parliament, call for an election and let the people decide again.

Win or lose, Pakatan Harapan needs to bite the bullet to move forward without Anwar.

R Venugopal: Zahid claims he has seen the letter that Najib is to be placed on house arrest instead of prison.

All Harapan leaders are silent and deaf on this matter. Anwar talks about world affairs where justice must prevail, and all criminals be punished for their crimes without malice.

Back home, Najib was granted a partial pardon and a reduction in the fines for stealing taxpayers’ money.

Now he gets the additional reward of house arrest. Congratulations to the Madani government as you created history by granting a criminal such benefits for stealing.

It is time for us to dump PKR, DAP and Umno in the next general election as our prime minister failed us all.

MAT M DIN: An affidavit to seek Najib’s judicial review to serve house arrest for the remainder of his six-year jail sentence to be heard now, is considered highly premature.

Najib is facing corruption charges which are still ongoing and yet to be concluded. If the review is allowed to be heard now, what will the world think of the judiciary?

Why allow him to be given special privileges? The review should be placed on the back burner for the time being till the appropriate time. It should be first come first serve.

GreenFalcon2290: All these idle speculations about the existence of the document.

The pertinent issue is why a two-month delay in making this public. Why does it need the court to intervene, as the person who issued it had full powers to do so?

So, what stops it from being implemented is the question. As to the mighty, magnificent Anwar, his silence is much louder than words.

EyeInTheSky2024: The other inmates in Sungai Buloh prison should also be allowed to serve time under house arrest.

Malaysia will be a haven for all criminals because they can commit crimes here and serve time in comfort instead of enduring the bare necessities in prison.

Malaysia will be a laughing stock but celebrated by future criminals.

PMB: If Najib gets to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest, then all the other cases he is facing will be conducted while he is under house arrest. This is absurd. This is Madani’s compassion. No necessity for jail time. Just get convicted and remain under house arrest! What kind of governance is this? - Mkini
