Dep Minister Saravanan denies supplying college girls for sex

KUALA LUMPUR (NST) - Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk M Saravanan, the VIP who has been accused of supplying college girls to prominent people for sex, has dismissed the allegation as baseless.

“I have no knowledge about it and it’s just an attack to destroy my political career and image,” he said yesterday.

Saravanan said he had no reason to be afraid or hide anything since the allegation was baseless.

“I’m leaving it to the police to investigate. I’m sure they will get to the truth.

“Besides, I was told the allegation was made by a politician from the opposition and not the so-called victim.”

A report was lodged at the Brickfields police station on Saturday night by an opposition politician who contested a Perak state seat in the 2008 general election.

Saravanan contested and won the Tapah parliamentary seat, which is also in Perak.

The opposition man, in his 50s and from Ipoh, claimed he received a letter on
Wednesday in Ipoh from a victim.

The report stated that a VIP rented a house in Gombak for female students of an institution of higher learning and sent them to hotels and to Datuks and Tan Sris for prostitution.

The VIP was also alleged to have been involved in drug trafficking.

Federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin
said they were investigating the report.

“The report was lodged by a third party and the complainant claimed the activities occurred in 2000 and 2001,” he said.

“Police have to look into many aspects to ascertain whether it is an allegation or the truth.”

Bakri said police would open an investigation paper if there was any truth to the report.

However, they would not call the deputy minister to record a statement if the report was just an accusation.
