ANAK warns against blind support for Felda listing

Chairman of whistleblower group National Felda Settlers’ Children Association, Mazlan Aliman, reminded all parties not to blindly support the controversial plan to list Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGVH).

Responding to a memorandum by UMNO's right-wing offshoot Perkasa in support of FGVH's listing plan while slamming ANAK for trying to 'incite' settlers against the plan, Mazlan said ANAK was merely taking care of settlers’ interest because their lands under Felda Plantation would be mortgaged to FGVH to facilitate the listing.

“Hence I urge everyone to argue based on facts, not emotion,” he said.

On Perkasa’s support for the listing, Mazlan dismissed it as merely an expression of support to Felda's embattled chairman Isa Samad.

“Although they support Isa, please argue with facts. They have to understand the effect of the listing to the settlers. Don’t support and be doomed later,” added Mazlan.

He also rubbished Perkasa’s accusation of 'torn in flesh' made against Felda director general, Dzulkifli Abdul Wahab, who was forced to go on a nine-month ‘leave of absence’ to further his studies under a directive from prime minister Najib Razak.

“This is an evil allegation for someone who has dedicated more than 30 years to Felda. They are supporting Isa blindly, despite being in Felda for only a year. Isa is actually the liability to Felda,” he added.

Meanwhile, PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar said that turmoil in Felda proved that the BN government’s treasure chest had dried up.

“To get money especially in preparation for the 13th general election, the BN government is forced to manipulate Felda in various ways, including imposing pressure on settlers and its leaders,” said Mahfuz.
