JOURNEY TO NO WHERE?

JAMMED…. long queue of cars and buses jamming the entrance to the ferry terminal.
THE MENUMBOK to Labuan Ferry Terminal needed immediate attention on the arrangement of car, buses and lorry queuing to board the ferry.
This was brought up to the KK MP Hiew King Cheu recently while he conducted a visit to the ferry terminal in Menumbok. The people was stucked in the massive jam of cars queuing to get in and out of the ferry terminal. The whole situation is so jammed tight and especially there are many big buses parked there waiting for passengers to come out from the ferry.
The long queue can sometimes build up to as many as over hundreds car, lorry, and buses. There is just not enough space to park all the cars here and the queues are not in proper order. The situation is made worst when someone jumping the queue.
This is already bad when only one ferry is running, what happen when all the approved ferries come into operation? The port authority here must set off to plan or to rearrange the boarding area and its sequence.
It will be difficult for many ferries to operate here in this narrow space, especially more buses will come to park here waiting for passengers from the ferries.
MP Hiew suggested that the port authority and the Beaufort district council must come to look at the serious problem here. A better location is needed to park the buses, and a better system for the car and lorry queues must be implemented.
We are now in the modern age, and should not follow the old ways as if we are still in the seventy.
