Perkasa plans to cross swords with Pakatan 901

Malay rights group Perkasa will organise a counter-rally next Monday at the Duta court complex to thwart Pakatan Rakyat’s planned rally, in the name of "safeguarding national peace".

According to a report in the Malay daily Sinar Harian, Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali said its members will perform prayers at the Federal Territory mosque, located opposite the court complex, before marching onwards.

"We will perform special prayers, asking Allah to give strength to this struggle.

"After that, we will march, and if we clash with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and his supporters who are willing to defend their leader with a moral problem, we will carry out provocation together," he was quoted by the daily as saying.

NONEThe Kuala Lumpur High Court, some 300 metres from the mosque, is due to deliver its verdict on the Sodomy II trial of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim on Monday morning.

Pakatan Rakyat had announced that it will gather100,000 supporters in Kuala Lumpur on the same day to show their solidarity to the Opposition Leader.

On possible action to be taken by the authorities, Ibrahim (left) said it was up to the police to disperse either Perkasa’s or the opposition’s rally, as both will be illegal assemblies.

"We want to safeguard peace, and this is our strength.

"On the contrary, they want to destroy it and uphold the leader with a moral problem," added the Independent MP of Pasir Mas.

Prior to the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9 last year, Ibrahim had also threatened to hold a counter-rally against the election reform movement.
But he called off the proposed rally at the eleventh hour and later explained that it was to avoid a clash among the Malays.
