TRAFFIC between Sandakan and here is at a near standstill as a stretch of road collapsed in Ranau last night.
The road about 10 metres in length crumbled and sank about five metres near Kampung Kinaratuan about 120km from here at about 9pm.
Engineers from the Public Works Department are now heading to the scene where heavy vehicles are lined up on both ends up to five kilometres.
There were no casualties but the heavy traffic build up was a cause for concern as the road is the main link between the west coast and east coast.
Tour guide Sadib Miki when contacted said the scene was like a mini “earthquake” as the whole road collapsed.
“It was also hard to walk across because a small path on the side looks like it may fall anytime,” he said adding there was water flowing in the gap. - Sabahkini

ReplyDeleteJKR needs to monitor such roads more often.
