Papagomo no longer postal voter, police confirm

The police force says blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, better known by his pseudonym Papagomo, was no longer postal voter once sacked from the force.

NONEIn a press statement issued today federal police headquarters (Bukit Aman) director of management Mortadza Nazarene said Wan Muhammad Azri was charged in court on Oct 31, 2005, and subsequently found guilty.

After his conviction was upheld on Sept 6, 2012, Mortadza said, a police disciplinary proceeding held the same day sacked Wan Muhammad Azri from the force.

"Following this, he was no longer listed in the police records as a postal voter," he added.

Based on immigration records from 2010, PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli had claimed that Wan Muhammad Azri held both police and civilian identification cards.

Rafizi also claimed that when Wan Muhammad Azri's identity card numbers are keyed into the Election Commission (EC) website, it showed him to be listed as a voter in two different constituencies.

A day after Rafizi's charge, the EC deleted Wan Muhammad Azri's listing as a voter under his police identity card number.

In view of this removal, Mortadza said, the question of whether Wan Muhammad Azri was both a police postal voter and a civilian voter no longer arose.
