Inspector S Hare Krishnan today became the fourth police officer charged for the murder of custodial death victim N Dhamendran.
Judge Nur A'minahtul Mardiah Md Nor set mention at a later date after the availability of Dhamendran's post-mortem report, which is expected on August 2.
The accused was represented lawyers S Kavita and N Kalyana Sundaram.
Hare Krishnan was charged merely 24 hours after surrendering to the police at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters yesterday morning.
Police had stated that he has being in hiding since June 15, a claim which the accused and his family has rebutted.
Hare Krishnan had claimed innocence in Dhamendran’s death, alleging he is merely a scapegoat to “protect certain parties”.
