After GE, it's payback time for the rakyat

YOURSAY ‘Petrol price increased, sugar price increased, property tax increased, KL assessment rate increased and now electricity. GST and much more to come!'

Gov't confirms electricity tariff up 15pct come 2014

Oomph: From sugar to electricity, prices are increasing. The salaries of civil servants and MPs will increase. Now wait for private sector to increase wages and within two to three years, both public and private sectors will be receiving higher salaries and remuneration. That's the way forward to a high income group of a sick developing nation - a cancerous one.

This is because the SMEs, MNCs and GLCs are mostly not really performing or churning out real income growth, innovation, new markets, etc. Nothing. These people are now merely driving into a higher ‘pyramid economy'.

James_3392: Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) annual turnover for period ending August 2013 is RM37 billion. Fifteen percent up means almost RM6 billion extra. The minister says the poor will not be affected; only larger consumers, industrial and commercial users will pay the extra charges.

Businesses absorb the RM6 billion without passing it on to consumers? Got such a free lunch in this world? Minister, go tell your grandmother, we don't believe you.

Anonymous #19895825: Petrol price increased, sugar price increased, property tax increased, KL assessment rate increased, now electricity. GST and much more to come. Spend, spend, spend before the general election. Paying for it now. Vote for BN.

Anonymous_3ee4: It's payback time for the billions spent by BN during the general election. Now the rakyat has to pay for it through taxes, fines, raised prices of petrol, sugar, coffee, tea, salt, everything.

Black Mamba: BN is aptly known as ‘Barang Naik' (price increase) coalition party. I strongly doubt if this present government knows the sentiments of the working class affected by its policy of increasing prices. By the time BN finishes its governance, the citizens will be finished financially.

YUNoAnon: In less than seven months, we've seen prices continuing to go up, with nothing in return. Sugar, petrol, now this. Seriously, anyone who thinks BR1M is going to be able to offset your expenses for these items, keep dreaming.

Those who say "find a way around it" or "I'm able to cope with it" - well, if only everyone had it like you, wouldn't this world be so much better?

Siang Malam: Sabahans, please note that you are their special fixed deposit - so you pay RM0.01 more than West Malaysians.

Ksn: ‘Please believe me, this will not cause any problem for the poor. Their cost of living will not be affected.'

Let us wait to see who is going to make this idiotic statement.

JamesBond007: After election semua naik (everything's more expensive).

Fair Play: I suppose this is just the tip of the iceberg. When the US government begins its plan to scale back the purchase of bonds, which could be anytime now, the ringgit would depreciate further, causing imported inflation to rise.

How high? Only time will tell. With cost-push inflation and a diminishing value in exports denominated in ringgit, the nation will face a double whammy.

Everybody (products and service providers, including hawkers, etc.) will jump on the bandwagon to do their best to pass on the increase to the ultimate consumers or victims - the middle and lower income rakyat. A fitting reward for blind loyalty?

Blackmoon: The Selangor MB and assemblypersons are all silent. Afraid to comment about this 15 percent electricity tariff increase because their pay hike is even bigger.

Your Pakatan leaders are not concerned because with their 300 percent pay increase, they can afford to enjoy air-conditioning every day and night, while you, the stupid supporters, will sweat it out in the heat to minimise electricity bills.

Ericlcc: I suppose 2014-2015 will be bad for the people as BN will go on a rampage for more money. It will probably flatten out in 2016 for the Sarawak state election, and then slow down in 2017 and finally stop in 2018.

If we are still foolish enough to give them another five years after 2018, then we are ‘Malaysia Truly Doomed'.

Wu Ling: The government will keep squeezing the people if the people do not stand up and speak out.

Anonymous #25558299: All BN supporters, especially Sabahans and Sarawakians, you deserve this. Due to your selfishness, greed and stupidity, all the rakyat is being punished. Umno/BN threw some money (BR1M) and goodies to get your votes and change your brains, now everybody has to suffer.

Wira: The increase affects 30 percent of all households in Malaysia. Maybe Umno already figured out that all the ignorant rural folks may not complain because they are kept poor so as not to consume more electricity.

They probably missed that when everyone charges more for goods and services because it's getting more expensive to run businesses, inflation is going to affect the rural folk as well.

US.PRESIDENT: More to come. Mark my words.

Anonymous_40f4: According to Umno, our new electricity rates are the lowest among Asean countries. Najib, BN, Umno, ‘Janji Ditepati'.

Najib always cares for the rakyat's problems. While he spends RM2,000,000 per year for electricity for his palace, the rakyat have to live in semi-darkness to save electricity. Not forgetting the tuanin TNB who can go for lavish, free holidays and enjoy luxurious perks every month.

Okeylah: Well, here comes ‘pay up time' after receiving goodies from Najib.

Urkidding: This is the advantage of voting in BN again. A big gift to the people for 2014 after sugar and gas. The people are grateful. Thank you.

Hill: Increase is because of poor management, corruption and loopholes. I can't see any hope in Malaysia as long this country is ruled by the BN.

These corrupt BN leaders are hypocrites who don't bother about the majority's suffering. The race- and religion-based rule will be the root cause of the nation's fall. Our good days are coming to an end.

Bumiputeri: No worries. Our rate is still cheaper than others. Change our lifestyle again and again and again. This is what you call ‘endless possibilities'. - Malaysiakini
