Arifin said many preventive measures had been enforced in an effort to curb corruption from spreading to the judiciary.
"The appointment of judges and judicial commissioners is not spared anti-corruption procedures. Vetting of records of candidates are done by the Police (PDRM), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) and the Insolvency Department," he said at the swearing-in of four judicial commissioners, here today.
They were the registrar of the Appeals Court, Datuk Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, 52, chairman of the advisory board of the Prime Minister's Department, Ab Karim Ab
Rahman, 57, registrar of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak, Azhahari Kamal Ramli, 50, and advocate and solicitor (Sabah), Mairin Idang @ Martin,59.
Arifin said there were still rumours of misconduct by a few judges and judicial commissioners and assured that all complaints received would be investigated by authorities.

When asked about the misconduct, he said they include not writing down the grounds for judgements and speaking rudely in court.
"The judges and judicial commissioners have to be more courteous with the public during court proceedings."
He said there were no reports of corruption involving judges and judicial commissioners.
"If there are, we (the judiciary ) will hand them over to the parties concerned."
He added the power to punish offenders with "contempt of court" was not intended to protect a judge, but to protect the judiciary's dignity. This did not mean that the court could not be criticised, but the criticisms should be proper and not intended to insult the court.
Arifin advised judges and judicial officers to avoid postponing cases except for reasons that could not be avoided.
"Trial by instalment should be avoided at all costs. The decisions and grounds for judgment should be made as soon as possible," he said.
The Appeals Court could not proceed without judgment grounds from the High Court and the Federal Court could not proceed without judgement grounds from the
Appeals Court.
Arifin reminded the public, including lawyers, not to make statements which could be translated as pressuring the court when the case is ongoing.
