FREE-FOR-ALL grab for ministry posts now? Resolution not to accept govt positions REJECTED
KUALA LUMPUR - The MCA general assembly today rejected a motion that several delegates wanted to table on the party's resolution not to accept positions in the government.
The chairman of the assembly, Datuk Yik Phooi Hong, said the motion did not meet a requirement of the party constitution.
Article 37.3 of the party constitution pertaining to meetings states that a resolution adopted by an extraordinary general meeting requires the attendance of 100 per cent or all the 2,385 delegates at an assembly.
He rejected the motion brought by, among others, delegate Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew of Parit Sulong.

The new MCA line-up raise their hands in solidarity at the closing of the 60th MCA general assembly at Wisma MCA. NSTP/Khairull Azry Bidin.
"However, only 1,258 delegates or 55 per cent are present today. This does not meet the requirement of the meeting regulations for the debate on the motion," he said at the 60th MCA general assembly at Wisma MCA, here.
Yik said the motion could only be debated at a fresh extraordinary general meeting. -- BERNAMA
